Charlotte undertook her legal training and qualified as a Solicitor at Eversheds LLP. Following a move to Mills & Reeve LLP in 2005 she went on to be promoted to Senior Solicitor and then Associate.
Recent Commercial Sector work includes:
- Defending complex employment tribunal proceedings including claims for constructive unfair dismissal, sex discrimination and whistle blowing.
- Advising on a major workplace re-organisation, including a redundancy process with complex selection issues.
- Support in respect of outsourcing projects (inc. second generation transfers) and the acquisition and disposal of business assets, advising particularly in respect of the implications of TUPE.
- Advising on day-to-day employment issues including grievance and disciplinary matters and the management of sickness absence issues.
- Undertaking full legal ‘health checks’ of employment contracts and HR documentation.
...and in the Public Sector:
- Advising on an extensive grievance investigation, Race Relations Act questionnaire and race discrimination employment tribunal claim.
- Successfully defending multiple employment tribunal claims of disability discrimination, whistle blowing and breach of the Working Time Directive.
- Providing training to a university HR forum on legislative changes to family-friendly rights.
- Advising on the public sector equality duty, including gender and race equality schemes.
